Every room has a dress code. Nobody tells you until you get it wrong.

Reformer and barre

Fitted layers (loose fabric catches in springs), grip socks, hair up and off your face. Leave the jewelry at home.

Interval and treadmill classes

A low-profile trainer, sweat-wicking top, shorts or leggings you've already run in. A towel; they're usually provided.

Spin

Padded shorts if you'll ride often; studio shoes are usually included. Something you won't mind soaking.

Yoga and hot yoga

Grippy mat, close-fitting clothes that stay put upside down. For hot yoga, less fabric and more water.

Boxing

Hand wraps (buy your own), comfortable shoes with a flat sole, and nothing with zips or hoods.

Lifting

Flat, stable shoes, shorts with room in the hip, and a notebook.

The best outfit is the one that lets you forget what you're wearing.
