Peptides are having a moment: injectables promising faster healing, fat loss and youth. Here's the frank version.
What's known
Very little, for most of them. Popular "healing" peptides such as BPC-157 have mostly been studied in animals. Good human trials are scarce.
What's approved
Some peptide medicines are FDA-approved for specific conditions (GLP-1 medications are peptides). Most of what's sold for recovery or "optimization" isn't approved for those uses, and the FDA has raised safety concerns about compounding several of them.
The real risks
- Products bought online may be contaminated, mislabeled or not what they claim.
- Injecting carries infection risks.
- Long-term effects are simply unknown.
If you're considering them anyway
Talk to a doctor, honestly. Get bloodwork. Never share needles. If a clinic offers peptides, ask what the evidence is, whether it's approved for this use, and who manufactured it.
We'll never help anyone source them. We'd rather you were safe.
